I worked with Mike at ’Ma Bell’s’ Yellow Pages. His ability to see the humor in most situations made work seem less like ’work’. Mike was a great cartoonist, with a style that was distinctly his. Thanks to Mike, I learned a lot about the art biz, getting hired by large phone companies, and some effective stress-management techniques. My condolences to the family…

Our sincere condolences to the family. Mike and I go back to around 1960 at John Herron and then later at Indiana Bell. Mike was THE funniest at school and at work. His cartoons were always a delight and a welcome diversion. We all will miss him.

For several years I worked with Mike at Indiana Bell when he was a Yellow Pages Artist. Mike was a loyal, honest, dependable, very talented and creative artist with a great sense of humor. My sincere sympathy goes out to his family and those that knew him well.

The first person to welcome us on Rolling HIll almost 20 years ago and became extended family. We will so miss your visits and stories, seeing you walk around the neighborhood and visiting with everyone and feeding the begging neighbors cat (Kitty). You were an everyday part of our lives that will leave a huge void, may you rest in peace Mike. We will truly miss you, Love The Swaims & Kitty Cat

Julie, we had the pleasure of meeting your father on a couple of different occasions while living in Indiana several years ago. He was a genuinely nice person and quite likeable. I know you were close to him and this must be heartbreaking for you. Always remember he was a father and man that made you proud to be his daughter. Our thoughts will be with you through this very sad and difficult time. If you ever get to Texas be sure to let us know….

I only knew Mike through the internet and our mutual love for IU sports and general irreverent cyber-comraderie. He was a unique friend and always showed a great spirit. RIP Kref. Thanks for serving your country and trying to bring a better life to others. You will be missed.

Erik and Julie, you were the light of your dad’s life. He was so proud of you and talked about your lives and accomplishments with fatherly pride. Mike was a kind, compassionate friend and gifted artist. I knew him as a fellow creative and fellow doting cat owner, and as a good friend who would drop everything if you needed help or a just a kind word. God blessed Mike with an abundance of talent, and I’m sure He has welcomed Mike home with open arms.

I only knew Mike for the short periods of time between 2001 and 2008 when he helped design our company logo and did various art work, but I can attest to every summary written here at this guest book.
